A core sample is collected in the core barrel during rock drilling. The After the withdrawal of the core barrel from the drill hole, the core is removed from the barrel and the cores are placed in a tray and transferred into boxes specially prepared for the purpose. The cores shall be numbered serially and arranged in the boxes in sequential order. The description of the core samples shall be recorded as per IS 4464. The direction of extrusion of the sample is maintained as same as that while coring.
